IN MEMORIAM

PFC SIGISMUND WORTKOWSKI

KIA April 1, 1945

Sigismund Wortkowski and George Verostko  were both "killed in action" on April 1st, 1945,  when their "half track", named "cesspool",  was blown up after they passed through a small town named Authausen in Germany.  Sigismund's  dog tag, shown below, was recently found (2015).

SIGISMUND WORTKOWSKI'S dog tag was found by Wolfgang Losert who lives in  Gaertringen, Germany. He contacted me (Roman Verostko) noting that he  would like to return the dog tag  to Sigismund's nearest surviving relative.  Surviving family may contact Wolfgang or myself at:

Wolfgang Losert:    Losert.w@gmx.de
Roman Verostko:   click  for here for my contact info

The motto of his battalion in WWII was:
"Delenda est Mal" - "Evil must be Destroyed"
