Above: Model for the 1953 Angel Choirs fresco. This model, painted with tempera on black paper measures about 20" in length. It served as a guide for the finished work. This model was not lost in the 1963 fire. Fortunately it had been preserved by our classmate, Bartholomew Zuzik, who returned the original to the St. Vincent Archabbey Legacy Collections in 2015. Left. The base photo for this picture was taken at the actual site after the first mural was replaced with a later version. I superimposed the model on the original image to give us a view of approximately how the first mural looked when it was completed in 1953. |
